Carson was shown the shelter beds, showers and laundry facilities. The Alpha Project tent also has medical services and caseworkers who connect people to programs for employment, counseling and fighting substance abuse. Carson, speaking to reporters said the federal government funds thousands of programs, but is focused on identifying programs and solutions that actually work.“We are concentrating on data, we are concentrating on evidence. We don’t care about ideology, so whether there’s “Housing First” or whether it’s a different type of program, we want to see what the results are. If the results are good, we’re behind them 100 percent,” Carson said.
